CARE & CLEANING TIPS

It is VERY important for the vacuuming to be gentle and with no friction.
Use the largest attachment tool on the vacuum hose so that the amount of suction is not very strong and make sure that the attachment doesn’t have any kind of brush.
At least once per month, do a more thorough cleaning of your rug by vacuuming both the front and the back side of the rug, and flipping it back over again to vacuum the front a second time.

Direct exposure to sunlight (or to any other intense light such as halogen bulbs) and/or extended periods of time can cause the textile to become discolored (both with your hand-woven rug and any other type of textile, leather, wood, etc.), which is why we suggest that you avoid any direct light exposure or try filtering it with the use of curtains, blinds, shades or screens.

As time goes by and depending on how you use your rug, it’s likely that there will be fibers that will come loose causing some pilling.
Rug specialists should be able to solve this issue, or, another option would be to “shave” the rug by using a hair or beard trimmer, in which case you would need to trim flush with the rug in a very careful manner so as to not damage or ruin the structure of the weave.

The first thing you should always do is react quickly to prevent the stain from drying.
LIQUID STAIN: use white paper towels or a white cloth, going from the edges towards the center of the rug so that the stain doesn’t spread.
SOLID STAIN*: Use a spoon to scrape off and remove any solid stains.
Prepare a solution of warm water, with a few drops of neutral PH liquid soap special for woolens, and a splash of white vinegar. Place a white towel between the rug and the floor, to absorb excess liquid. Apply the preparation with a damp clean sponge directly on the stain, and then clean it with a clean white cloth.
Repeat these steps as many times as necessary, until the stain is removed. Dry well with a white towel.
When cleaning, both with the sponge and with the towel, do it with gentle vertical movements, without scrubbing, to avoid pilling.
If the stain persists, we suggest a professional cleaning.

If a deep cleaning is required, we recommend using only professional cleaning services and specialized rug cleaners with experience in handmade flatweave rugs (such as ours or traditional Moroccan rugs).
