OUR STORY

In 2005, we founded Elementos Argentinos with a simple yet meaningful idea: to create rugs that could transform spaces while making a positive impact on both the people who weave them and the people who live with them.

Since then, we have traveled throughout northern Argentina, working alongside weavers and artisans from different communities. By bringing together contemporary design, sustainable production, and fair trade—always with deep respect for the ancestral knowledge of each region—we create authentic pieces designed to make homes feel warm, peaceful, and connected to nature.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

ALWAYS ON THE MOVE

Elementos Argentinos was born on one of those journeys that changes your life.

We—Fernando and Pablo—were looking for a project with purpose when, in Tafí del Valle, Tucumán, we met a group of weavers doing extraordinary work but struggling to sell their pieces outside the tourist season.

We were deeply moved by their story and inspired by the quality of their craft. And that's how it all began—almost by accident.

Today, more than 20 years later, we work alongside over 360 weavers and artisans across 12 Argentine provinces, supported by a wonderful team in Buenos Aires, two stores, worldwide online sales, and exports to more than 12 countries.

But the most meaningful part remains exactly what it was at the beginning: bringing people, knowledge, and opportunities together through design and craftsmanship.

IMAGINING ELEMENTOS

FERNANDO BACH

FERNANDO BACH

After several years of travelling and living in different places working as a hotel manager, I was ready for a personal life change and looking to start a new activity with a stronger social and creative sense.

The idea of working with high quality, handmade textiles for the home came naturally. I’m from Tucuman, and in Tafí del Valle, during those long summers and cold winters in the Calchaquí valleys, the rugs, blankets, saddlebags, “peleros” and “pullos” were a part of our daily life.

PABLO MENDÍVIL

PABLO MENDÍVIL

I majored in Design and worked for over 10 years in advertising, journalism and television.

I started to visit northwestern Argentina regularly, and I was constantly amazed by its colors and textures. The diversity, but most importantly the people, drew my inspiration for the development of this project, which allows me to combine my passion for designing decorative objects with a personal desire to be part of a sustainable company.
